DB Freedom is a program that works together with a PC application to provide mobile access to databases available from a desktop PC. Most commonly this will be from a office computer where one or more business-oriented databases are in use.
DB Freedom can be used even in the most restrictive business environments. If you have permissions to do so, it will install on your work PC normally, but if you do not it can still be installed there and give you access to business databases from your iPad. DB Freedom also has an "enterprise" option where it will work cooperatively with your IT department.
DB Freedom differs from a lot of other database applications in that it presents live data from the database, not a cached view present on the mobile device. This means there is no "stale data" problem if changes are made - you see the changed data immediately.
DB Freedom works by assisting you in building "queries" which are requests for information from the database. You can build up sets of queries which list data and then present detailed information about a single item. DB Freedom understands most datatypes and can flexibly format dates, times and numbers. It can also display pictures stored as binary data within the database.
